Short answer

To remove SynthID, drop your photo or video into the tool above and hit Clean. It takes out Google’s SynthID watermark and the AI metadata tags in one pass, and gives you a clean copy to download. Free, no sign-up.

How to remove SynthID

Drop your image or video into the tool above and hit Clean. It takes out the SynthID watermark and every AI tag in one pass, then gives you a clean copy to download and post.

No sign-up, no settings. You see what the file carries first, then clean it with one click.

What we remove

SynthID is Google’s invisible AI watermark, added by Gemini, Imagen, Veo and Google Photos AI edits. On top of it, Google tools write ordinary AI tags — C2PA Content Credentials and IPTC fields — that platforms read on upload.

Clean removes the lot: the watermark and the tags together. You don’t have to know which mark your file carries; one button handles all of them.

What to do for different files

Whatever your file is, the tool above handles it. A quick guide to what you’re dealing with:

  • A real photo you edited with a Google AI tool, such as Reimagine in Magic Editor or a change in Gemini: clean it and post the clean copy — a false AI label on a real photo is exactly what this is for.
  • A photo or video flagged on social media: clean it before you upload, so the file carries no AI marks the platform can read.
  • A file made fully by AI: you can still clean it, but if you share it, keep the disclosure — most platforms ask for it, and so do we.

Is SynthID behind your Instagram or Facebook label?

Often the AI tags in the file are what triggers a label, and sometimes the watermark plays a part too. You don’t have to figure out which: cleaning the file takes out both.

Drop your file into the tool above, clean it, and post the clean copy. There is nothing in the file left for a platform to read as AI.

SynthID in photos and video

SynthID turns up in more than still images. Clean removes it wherever it appears:

  • Photos from Gemini, Imagen, Nano Banana and Google Photos AI edits.
  • Videos made or edited with Google’s Veo or Flow.
  • Files that also carry C2PA Content Credentials or IPTC AI tags — those come off in the same pass.

Remove SynthID from a video

Video works the same way. Drop an MP4 or MOV into the tool above and hit Clean: it takes out the SynthID watermark and the AI metadata, and gives you a clean copy to upload.

If the clip was generated by AI from scratch, keep the disclosure when you post it — most platforms ask for that, and viewers deserve to know.

What Clean removes, and what it can’t

One click clears every AI mark in the file. Two things stay with the platform, not the file:

  • Removes: the SynthID watermark, C2PA Content Credentials, IPTC Digital Source Type values such as trainedAlgorithmicMedia, XMP AI fields and edit history, AI generator settings, and, if you choose, location and camera details.
  • Can’t change: a platform’s own AI classifier decision about how the picture looks.
  • Can’t change: a label on a post that is already live, or an AI label you added yourself when posting — repost the clean copy instead.

How it works

Check. Clean. Verify.

No account needed.

  1. 1

    Check

Drop up to 10 photos or videos. You get a plain-language list of every AI tag and private detail, and which app wrote it.

  2. 2

    Clean

One tap cuts the tags out of the file. The image data isn't re-saved, so not a single pixel changes.

  3. 3

    Verify

We re-check the clean copy and show you the proof: zero AI tags left. Then download it or share it straight to the app.

The one thing we're honest about

We clean your file. The rest is the platform's call.

We take every AI mark out of your file, metadata and pixel watermarks alike. Two things still sit with the platform, not the file — and we'd rather say so up front.

  • A platform's own judgment

An app can still decide a picture looks AI-made, or ask you to disclose it. Cleaning the file doesn't change that.

  • Posts that are already live

A file tool can't edit a published post. Ask the app to review the label, or delete, clean the original and post again.

Questions

SynthID remover questions

Can you remove SynthID from an image?+

Yes. Drop the image into the tool above and hit Clean: it takes out Google’s SynthID watermark and the C2PA and IPTC AI tags in one pass, and gives you a clean copy. Free, no sign-up.

Does cropping or a screenshot remove SynthID?+

No. Google built SynthID to survive cropping, filters and compression, and a screenshot just copies the pixels, so the watermark comes along. The tool above removes the watermark itself instead of hoping an edit knocks it out.

How do I check if my image has SynthID?+

Drop it into the tool above. It tells you what AI marks the file carries, including SynthID when a Google AI tool is behind it, and removes them in one click.

What is the difference between SynthID and C2PA?+

C2PA Content Credentials are a signed note stored next to the image; SynthID is an invisible mark inside the picture itself. Google tools often add both. Clean removes both in the same pass.

Do I need to remove SynthID to post on social media?+

If you don’t want an AI label on a real photo, clean the file first. The tool above removes the SynthID watermark and the AI tags platforms read, so the copy you post carries no AI marks.

Will cleaning take the AI label off my Instagram photo?+

The clean copy carries no AI marks, so a fresh post has nothing in the file to flag. A label on a post that is already live stays until you repost the clean copy. Platforms can also use their own classifiers and your own disclosure.

Is it okay to remove SynthID?+

For a real photo wrongly flagged after a small AI edit, yes — that’s what this is for. If an image was generated by AI from scratch, keep the disclosure when you share it: platform rules and some laws ask you to disclose realistic AI-generated content.
